Bridal
Made once. Worn for a lifetime. Handed on after that.
We would rather make a piece slightly heavier than fashionable, and have it survive the family.
A Nepali wedding asks a great deal of its jewellery. It must survive three days of ceremony, photograph well in low temple light, sit correctly under a sari, and then be worn again at every wedding that follows for the next forty years.
The bridal pieces are built to that brief. Heavier gauge than fashion work, with the weight carried at the back of the neck rather than the front. Settings are closed and re-checked twice. Nothing on a bridal piece is glued.
- Materials
- 22K hallmarked gold
- Closed-back stone settings
- Hand-finished granulation
- At the bench
- Bridal commissions take between four and ten weeks depending on the weight of the set. The first fitting happens at the wax stage, before a gram of gold is committed.
